Buttermere Tree And Mist

Buttermere Mist And Tree

Despite deciding I had gone through all of my Raw files from last years Lake District  trip I find myself revisiting the files again. I have recently upgraded to using Photoshop CS4 so have decided there are a few images still worth processing from the Lake District; it will give me a chance to try out the new software.

The Photograph was taken in August 2010 early one morning. I used a canon EOS20D and Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX Lens. As with 99% of all my images the camera was mounted on a tripod.

Although I was shooting into the light, using camera raw allowed me to capture the photograph using one exposure. I adjusted the foreground and background in Adobe Camera Raw to retain both detail in the shadows and ensure that the highlights were not blown out. To add a little more contrast to the image a levels adjustment was made before final sharpening. As with most of my mono images I have also produced a Sepia toned version.

Buttermere Mists

Buttermere MistsWell here it is the final image to be added to the gallery from the collection taken in 2010. Maybe a few more versions to follow, But as they say “That’s All Folks!”

A simple image taken one early morning last August. Mist rolled in off the lake and it began to clear warm early morning sunlight painted the shore line. A Lee Grey grad toned down the top third of the image. The sky was cropped in a photoshop, a quick level adjustment and sharpen and voila!

Some of the best images and most enjoyable are the ones that happen all in the camera saving hours of computer work.

New Photography Gallery

Am I a photographer, SEO expert, or web developer?  Photography seems to be integrating itself more an more into the Internet, I often find it hard to seperate the photography from getting the images out on the web for the world to see. For me this leads to periods of photographic inactivity and frustration. I come to a point where I realise that I have spent more time improving the website than making images.  I am just coming towards the end of such a period where I have been revamping my photography gallery all in an attempt to make it more attractive to search engines and get surfers and searchers to spend a little more time looking at my images.  Hopefully now I can spend less time on the site and more thinking and writting about photography – you never know I may even get to see the back of my camera again!
