About

I became hooked on photography during July 1987, stood on Plymouth Hoe watching an airshow. I held a Praktica Super TL with a Hanimex 200mm lens fitted. One week latter 108 pictures came through the letter box – they were terrible! However it was too late I was already bitten by the bug and I have not stopped taking photographs since. I progressed through the full range of Praktica cameras available at the time and eventually changed to Nikon in 1990. I stuck with photographing airshows for a good few years but as with most photographers dabbled with most subjects.
On a camping trip to the Lake District in the mid 90′s my interest in landscape photography took hold and quickly developed into the passion that it is today. At the same time I started to print my own work in the darkroom, and to this day I still favour monochrome photography. I switched fully to digital in 2005 and currently use Cannon cameras, Sigma Lenses and the Lee filter system. Monochrome conversions and alterations are done using photoshop.
I have been a member of Plymouth Camera Club for many years. I have had success in the clubs Landscape competition and am very pleased to have my name on the Trophy 3 times. I have had worked accepted into the Western Counties Photographic Federation Members exhibitions. I currently serve on the Club committee looking after it’s interests on the Internet.
Looking forward to the future I hope to grow my portfolio of landscape images, and when time allows enter work for more exhibitions. I am currently working on a Long term landscape photography project – more about that latter!
